Obtaining the Montage distribution

The Montage system consists of a set of a dozen commands that allow you to enter data (digitize from a bitpad), analyze it, and display it in 3D. The GCC-compatible source for Montage is available by anonymous ftp or you can download it now. The source takes about 10 minutes to compile on a 80486 DX-66.

Montage runs on almost any Unix system without much modification. The 3D images can be displayed under X-Windows without any special hardware, however the data acquisition program requires a bitpad digitizing tablet and VGA screen. It would not be difficult to port the system to a different environment.

The Montage distribution is available by anonymous ftp from:

Montage runs under virtually any Unix system, and is currently developed under Linux. We recommend Slackware 3.2 Linux and RetHat 4.2 Linux.
