- Function
- Dacey and Lee (1994): injected and recorded; periphery
- Blue luminance modulation: large on-response to 4 Hz luminance modulation (fig 3. high firing rate)
- Isoluminance blue vs red+green modulation: strong on-response synchronized to blue modulation. (fig 3. medium firing rate)
- Yellow luminance modulation: reasonable off-response synchronized to yellow. (fig 3. low firing rate)
- Red + Blue vs Green modulation: strong on-response synchronized with red+blue on (Fig 2. this cell was more peripheral than the cell of figure 3)
- Measureable response down to 5-10% s-cone modulation.
- My notes
- Yellow off response looks like half-wave rectifed response - in other words the spike histogram looks like the outline of a sinewave
- Both the blue luminant and isoluminant responses last much longer than just half of the modulation. It seems slow to dissipate.
- The isoluminant response is less than the blue luminance response even though it entails synchonized yellow offsets and a blue onsets. Something nonlinear has to be responsible for this... might adaptation be greater in the isoluminant case and therefore the response decreased relative to the blue luminance modulation.
- The spikes didn't look as if they were always the same size: the outline of the top of the spikes did not follow the outline of the graded potential. Typically, the first spike was the highest and they decreased to an assympototic level.
- Morphology
- Dacey and Lee (1994): LEDs; injected and recorded; periphery
- A large inner dendritic field startifying at the same depth as the axon terminals of the blue-cone bipolar cells
- An outer dendritic field which is likely to receive yellow(M/Green and L/Red) input.
