- Postsynaptic connections (Input)
- Presynaptic connections (Output)
- Function
- Kolb, Nelson and Mariani (1981)
- Called an "On"-lamina morphological counterpart to the A19 (which has dendrites in the "Off"-lamina of the IPL.)
- Freed, Pflug, Kolb and Nelson (1996) - note these results are based on the response of 4 A19's and only 1 A22
- On-Off amacrine - "respond with transient depolarizations to both the onset and the offset of a flashing light"
- Two spike-like event sizes
- Narrow dynamic range
- receptive field is larger than dendritic field: a light bar eleicted a response from a cell when the bar was "separated from the dendritic arbor by 300 um".
- "Recordings from the single ON-OFF amacrine cell (cell 3) that ramified mostly in sublamina b demonstrated only that it had an ON-OFF response."
- Morphology
- Kolb, Nelson and Mariani (1981)
- 12-15 um soma which are large and flattened
- unistratified
- dendrites have several varicosities and spines
- Array characteristics
- Compartmental Model Characteristics
- Location
- Kolb, Nelson and Mariani (1981)
- stratified only in strata 4 of the IPL (Kolb, Nelson and Mariani, 1981)
- somas were found in GCL and in the neuropil of the IPL.
- Subclasses
- Synapse types
- Synapse Receptors
- Neurotransmitters
- Immunoreactivity
- Nomenclature
- Originated in Kolb, Nelson and Mariani, 1981
